Look back at writing

It is common knowledge that many people around the world and throughout history have a love for reading and the knowledge obtained through reading. It is the countless unknown writers who share their research, knowledge, and stories with readers who are the unsung heroes of the literary world. Many years before the creation of paper early peoples felt the need to express their stories by writing with pictures. The ancient cave writings in South America show a prime example of how the early writers told their stories. They carved their language in to the stone walls of the caves, preserving their stories for thousands of years. The Egyptians are credited with the invention of using the papyrus plant to make paper. By the 3rd century AD they even had libraries where collections of legends, stories, census data, and more were kept and stored.

The Chinese began printing with wooden blocks in the 5th century and by the 7th century they had even established a news paper that was circulated. With modern printing techniques of the 18th century many more works and writings that were previously unavailable could then be mass produced. The distribution of and the way humans received information was then changed forever.

Today the tradition continues and with the expansion of the internet we have more access than ever to books, stories, and information.
