How to Clean Chem-Set Holes with a Tube Brush

  1. Blow Out Loose Debris – Use compressed air or a hand pump to remove dust and loose particles from the drilled hole. Insert the nozzle fully and blow air out while withdrawing.
  2. Brush the Hole – Insert the tube brush to the full depth of the hole, then rotate and move it in and out several times to loosen dust.
  3. Blow Again – Use compressed air or a hand pump again to remove the loosened debris.
  4. Repeat the Process – For best results, follow the blow-brush-blow method at least three times to ensure the hole is completely clean.
  5. Final Inspection – Visually check that the hole is free from dust before applying ChemSet adhesive.

This process ensures a strong, reliable bond, reducing the risk of failure in your anchoring application.

A Condensor Tube Brush is a twisted in wire brush used for cleaning pipes, tubes, and bottles. Our Condensor Tube Brushes are great for general cleaning and removal of rust and scale from thin section tubing and access to small, hard to reach blind areas.

We make wire brushes from a variety of metals, including steel, brass, tin, copper, and bronze. Here are a few handy applications of wire brushes.

  • Steel wire: These brushes tend to be quite aggressive and are ideal for heavy-duty brushing applications. Busy Bee Brushware recommends steel wire tube brushes if you need to do any deburring or cutting. Stainless steel is a popular choice in Australia, as the metal fair pretty well in our temperamental weather conditions.
  • Brass wire: Brass is a bit gentler than steel, but is still great for industrial applications. They’re perfect for cleaning, applying satin finishes, and reducing static. Brass wire tube brushes are popular because they are corrosion-resistant.
  • Tin wire: People typically purchase tin wire brushes for deburring and decarbonising applications. (this one needs to be stainless steel wire)

When to Avoid Using Wire Brushes

It’s important to remember that a wire tube brush is an abrasive brush. They are designed for cutting, cleaning, deburring, grinding, and finishing, so there are quite a few instances in which you should avoid using a wire brush.

  • If you’re not wearing PPE. Wire brushes can be sharp, so gloves and other appropriate PPE should be worn when handling them. Even if wire tube brushes aren’t being used to cut or grind, like in the case of a bristle gutter guard, gloves should still be worn to prevent injury or accident. (could put in wire scratch guard)
  • If you’re working with delicate materials. Depending on the metal, wire brushes have the potential to scratch or damage the material’s surface. Steer clear of glass, ceramics, and tile with most wire brushes.

A Condensor Tube Brush is a twisted wire brush used for cleaning pipes, tubes, and bottles. Our Condensor Tube Brushes are great for general cleaning and removal of rust and scale from any internal hard to reach area.  Our Nylon Wire Condensor Tube Brushes are a quality BORDO® brand.

What sizes do Condensor Tube Brushes come in:

  • Single twist on sizes 6mm – 13mm, double twist on the larger sizes
  • 75mm – 85mm brush head length, 130mm in the double twist
  • Threaded End with 3/16 inch BSW Ferrule fitted to the smaller sizes, 5/16 inch BSW Ferrule for greater strength in the larger sizes
  • Suitable for manual use, slow revolution drill, or other flexible shaft equipment

Choosing the right brush?

Generally, it is best to match the brush to your application. The Nylon Condensor Tube brush is less abrasive than wire tube brushes, and has more bristle flex to get into those tight spots. We also have a range of Brass and Steel tube brushes, plus we can custom manufacture a brush to suit your needs. Small production runs are our specialty. Tube Brush Range Extension Rods

UA1 – Universal Adaptor (BRASS) – female 3/4 inch to female 1/2 inch BSW (British Standard Whitworth fitting)

Connects our Chimney Rods to be suitable for our heavy duty Boiler Tube Brushes.  One end is 3/4 inch, the other 1/2 inch BSW fitting. Great for plumbing applications. Can also be used with our Timber File Handle for shorter applications.

UA3 – STEEL Adaptor – male 1/2 inch BSW to female 5/16 inch 

One end is 1/2 inch BSW Male, the other is 5/16 inch Female.  Use this Adaptor to connect our Condensor Tube Brushes to our 900mm (3 foot) Twist Wire Rods.

UA4 – STEEL Adaptor – male 5/16 inch to female 3/16 inch

One end is 5/16 inch Male, the other is 3/16 inch Female.  Use this adaptor with our smaller Condensor Tube brushes to use with our 1500mm Fibreglass Rods (this Rod is no longer available). Great for getting into those hard to reach machinery parts.

UA5 – STEEL DRILL Adaptor – male 3/4 inch adaptor for use in a power drill

Use this to connect our Tube Brushes and UA1 Brass Adaptor to use in a drill. Or for Professional Chimney Rods. Always use with a Power Drill on slow speed.

Hand Scratch cleaning brush for getting into tiny spaces

A wire scratch brush is a very versatile tool to have for odd jobs around the home or shed.

This brush is great for deburring, rust and paint removal, cleaning, blending and surface preparation. It works particularly well in hard to reach areas that aren’t easily accessible with a power wire brush.

OPTIONS: Choose one style or a Mixed pack

Brass – The brush bristles are made from a crimped brass wire. This type of wire creates no spark and is best suited to use on brass and copper surfaces.

Steel  – Suitable for the removal of paint and rust on steel, brass, iron, plastic and wood surfaces

Stainless Steel  – Premium stainless steel wire hand brush with increased resistance to corrosion in marine environments. Best used for brushing stainless steel and aluminium surfaces and getting into hard-to-reach areas.
