Our Polypropylene Flue Brush Head is widely recommended for most Flue Cleaning applications.  The polypropylene bristles are hard wearing, long lasting and strong enough to give you a great clean.  Accompanied by our Twist Wire Galvanised Rods, simply screw the rods together to the length that you need.

Kit includes:

• 1 x Flue Brush Head – sizes 4 inch (101mm) to 8 inch (203mm) diameter. This is a twisted in wire brush, with Polypropylene fibre spun into galvanised wire with a 1/2 inch BSW Ferrule fitting.
• Our Twist Wire Rods are 3 foot (91cm) in length and have a 1/2″ BSW Male & Female Ferrule at each end.  Simply screw the Rods together end to end for the length you need.  Choose 12 foot (4 metres) for single storey, 18 foot (5.4m) for split level, or 21 foot (6.3m) for double storey.
• 1 x Timber Handle with 1/2″ BSW Female fitting to complete the Kit and make for easy handling

Tips for Working with Acetal Rods

Busy Bee Brushware has come up with a few tips for working with acetal safely. These guidelines help reduce the risk of stress cracking and splitting.

• Always use coolants. The heat generated by cutting tools can lead to the release of processing stresses.
• When turning using carbide-tipped tools, deploy a clearance angle of 6-10 degrees, a positive rake angle of 0-5 degrees, and a side angle of 45-60 degrees.
• Drill a pilot hole of maximum 12mm using 500-800rpm and a positive feed of 0.5mm per revolution. You may need to apply negative relief on the drill cutting edges.
• Secondary drilling at 400-500rpm at 0.20mm to 0.50mm per revolution is required to expand the hole to larger diameters to accommodate a boring bar.
• When boring and turning, we recommend a feed rate of 0.10mm to 0.30mm.

We call them Tube Brushes but these brushes are often called Spiral Brushes or Twist in Wire brushes, bottle brushes or pipe brushes.

Why Brass Wire?

Brass wire is softer than steel or stainless steel wire and are great for applications where you do not want to scratch other surfaces.  They are resistant to rust and corrosion. Our Tube Brush in this range is made with crimped Brass wire twisted into galvanised steel twisted wire.  The thickness of the crimped brass wire filament is increased incrementally from small to larger diameters to provide a stiffer bristle brush suitable for  a wide range of applications. These brushes are for manual use.

• What is the best extension rod to use with boiler tube brushes? We recommend our professional chimney rods, polypropylene rod with brass fittings, and ½” BSW thread. It can be screwed end to end for longer lengths. You’ll also need to purchase a UA1 brass adapter which has the ½” BSW fitting.
• Can a brass bristle brush be used for coffee roaster flues? We have a professional Coffee Roasters Flue Cleaning Kit available, which contains brass brushes ideal for this application!
• What do I do if I need a stronger rod? We have professional chimney rods ideal for larger brass wire brushes. However, you’ll need the universal adapter UA1 to attach the chimney rod to the tube brush.
